Company B may have four light duty trucks and one medium duty truck (totaling five) and a staff of 3.
The common mis-conception is they are the same because they both have equal trucks and equal personnel but the fact is the heavy duty trucks cost 8 times higher than the light duty trucks and three times greater than the medium duty trucks.
Personnel staff, daily staffed office, security protocols, maintenance protocols,quantity of police contracts, multi locations etc. are other supporting factors that can increase or decrease overall overhead that may be a part of the spread sheets used when determining rates of charges that may vary from company to company.
A favorite small shop with one truck can defiantly tow a car for 1/2 the price of a company that has say 8 trucks and a staff of 15 as his return on his investment is a fraction.
The unfortunate clause is that when dealing with police contracts most companies that meet the strict regulations in place to qualify a company to do their accident/impound removals are usually multi fleet and specialize in the towing profession in a somewhat large degree and that is the exact companies the police departments are looking to command.
The small shop of one never meets the listed requirements and can never be called because he cannot meet the demand or required regulations.
